A Costly Living..

I was a bit surprised when learning that there's countries in Europe, more so they're part of the European Union, yet they don't use the Euro as their currency.

The first country that I experienced this in was Great Britian:

London

Alcohol & Tobacco costs are very high compared to other places for items such as beer, spirits, wine and cigarettes. There are 150 places that are more expensive, and 629 places that are less expensive for alcohol and or tobacco.
Benchmark price in a store for a midrange bottle of wine is $9.70, domestic/local beer (500ml) $2.06, imported/international beer (330ml) $2.17 and a pack of 20 cigarettes is $10.15.

The second country I experienced this in was The Czech Republic:

Prague

Alcohol & Tobacco costs are low compared to other places for items such as beer, spirits, wine and cigarettes. There are 508 places that are more expensive, and 271 places that are less expensive for alcohol and or tobacco.

Benchmark price in a store for a midrange bottle of wine is $5.92, domestic/local beer (500ml) $0.78, imported/international beer (330ml) $1.31 and a pack of 20 cigarettes is $4.28.

The third country I experienced this in was Poland:

Krakow

Alcohol & Tobacco costs are very low compared to other places for items such as beer, spirits, wine and cigarettes. There are 736 places that are more expensive, and 43 places that are less expensive for alcohol and or tobacco.

Benchmark price in a store for a midrange bottle of wine is $4.97, domestic/local beer (500ml) $0.88, imported/international beer (330ml) $1.23 and a pack of 20 cigarettes is $3.44.

Warsaw

Alcohol & Tobacco costs are very low compared to other places for items such as beer, spirits, wine and cigarettes. There are 656 places that are more expensive, and 123 places that are less expensive for alcohol and or tobacco.

Benchmark price in a store for a midrange bottle of wine is $6.88, domestic/local beer (500ml) $0.87, imported/international beer (330ml) $1.17 and a pack of 20 cigarettes is $3.47.

And now, I will be traveling to Denmark:

Copenhagen

Alcohol & Tobacco costs are high compared to other places for items such as beer, spirits, wine and cigarettes. There are 204 places that are more expensive, and 575 places that are less expensive for alcohol and or tobacco.

Benchmark price in a store for a midrange bottle of wine is $11.50, domestic/local beer (500ml) $1.97, imported/international beer (330ml) $2.86 and a pack of 20 cigarettes is $6.34.

I figure since nearly everyone in Europe smokes and even more people drink that this would be a good compairason of the countries.
